The global population is aging, and more than one-fifth of the European Union’s population is already over 65 years old. As people grow older, many may find themselves in vulnerable situations as their health becomes more fragile — for example, through the onset of chronic diseases, difficulties in performing daily activities, or cognitive decline. At the same time, they may gradually lose contact with their social networks, withdraw from community life, experience financial insecurity, and become victims of age-based discrimination (ageism).
In this context, research on aging becomes essential to better understand the needs of this population group and to identify solutions that can improve their quality of life.
Addressing these challenges requires a multidisciplinary perspective and active dialogue among researchers and professionals interested in this field. To support this endeavor, we have created this platform.
AgeShift Network pursues three main objectives: monitoring the latest developments in aging research, developing a network of researchers and stakeholders in Romaniato facilitate collaborative projects and funding opportunities, and widely disseminating project results to advance knowledge in the field.
